Golfball
During second period, we had been playing Golf. We had been aiming at Hula-hoops. There were lots of diffent colors and sizes. The hula-hoops were the holes.Kayla was standing behind the hole I was aiming at. When I hit it,it hit Kayla in the arm. We both started cracking up. After I made sure she was ok,and out of the way. I took my next shot and made it. It was going pretty well until, I hit her again. This time it was in the leg.We both started laughing again. After that we played for about ten more minutes, then coach told us it was time to go.

Comment byDRAMA!
Comment byDRAMA! Why do people start it? Well, I really don’t know. Some people just need to NOT start it. It causes so much stress.
“She did this and this” are usually what people say to start drama. They will also say “She likes him and has been talking and flirting with him.”
Usually when people start saying stuff like that, it effects so many people around that person. So all it does is add on to everyone’s list of stuff to worry about. Everyone has to deal with it sometime, but some people deal with it more than others.
Some people just like starting drama, but I don’t. People will start saying stuff like “She has worn that five times this month. Her hair doesn’t look good” or something kind of similiar to that. I hate all of that stuff. I definately hate being put in any of that drama. People just don;t need to start it.
Drama causes so many promblems between friends and family; it adds promblems to so many things. It messes up great relationships. It’s crazy.
So you see drama is stupid and causes so many problems between people. i can’t stand drama; I hope whoever reads this, takes my advice and DON”T START ANY DRAMA!
Career Fair
Comment bySeptember 16, 2009, eight draders went to the career fair at the Gibson County High School. I thought it was very useful and helpful in many ways.
We got to go around the gym and look at many careers that we might want. We would ask tham questions like how much they made and many of other questions. I thought that was so helpful.
Some of the people gave us free stuff. I love getting free stuff, so I made sure that I stopped at those careers. It was so fun to go around and get all of that stuff!
Since the career fair was at the high school, we got to get out of school for like an hour or so, Who doesn’t like getting out of school? I know almost anybody likes to get out.
So you see how useful the career fair was. I am glad we got to go to it.
Falling in the Pool
Comment byThis past summer, I got to go to Florida with Sarah Catherine. We had a blast and their is so much I could talk about that happened there.
This one day, over the week we stayed, we were playing this game called “Tricks”. We called it that, because we would try to do whatever the judge told us to do. Well anyway, we were playing that game; Jacob was the judge. Everyone was saying he wasn’t judging right, and he wasn’t.
Well after he judged everybody’s trick, I started to argue with him about the scores. We just kept on argueing; next thing you know, I slipped and fell straight in the pool. Everyone started busting out laughing. It was funny.
I figured out while I was getting out of the pool that I has hurt my foot; it got twisted around when I fell. My foot ended up being okay. It was a crazy but funny moment.
unfair
Comment byI think it is unfair for Obama to take guns away. the average person isn”t the ones shooting people. It’s the thugs and gangsters are the one shooting people. If a gang person shoots somebody they dont go to jail just get told not to do it again. I think if you shoot somebody that you should get shot.
I don’t know what i want to do when i grow up.
Comment byI’ve thought about bein a welder. It would be fun to work with all the flames.
Another career i thought about was bein a farmer. I like bein outside and i know alot about out side . i can pretty much predict the weather. At harvest time it’s pretty good money.
The career i’m most intrested in is game warden. The money is great I’d be working outside witch i love to do. I would be around wildlife and animals to.
When Ben Got Lose.
One Sunday I was riding horses with my cousins Amy and Jenny.
Comment byWhen they arrived at my grandmother’s house we saddled the horses and got ready to ride. We saddled Justin ,my black horse, then Amy decided to saddle Ben , our crazy horse.
Well before she rode him , they decided they would run him in a circle while Jenny was swinging te rope.
Our lead ropes weren’t long enough for her to do that, so we tied Bullet’s (our other crazy horse) lead rope and Ben’s lead rope together so she could run him. The only reason we run him is because he doesn’t like saddles.
She started running him, and he started pulling on the ropes.
All of the sudden, the ropes detach and Ben ran free.
Luckily Amy was riding Justin. Ben walked up to her and suprised her.
She got off Justin and gave him an apple bite (a treat) and caught him for us.
When she brought him back, we unsaddled all the horses and got ready to go eat with my cousins Ann and Joe.
My Career
Comment byYesterday I went to the career fair at Gibson County High Schol. There were alot of exciting jobs there, but the one that cought my eye the most was a wildlife officer.
A wildlife officer is perfect for me. It involves the outdoors and animals. I love being outside. That is were i spend most of my time during the day.Every chance i get I get, I’m outside hunting or just walking around looking for animals like deer, squirels, ducks and geese flying around in the air, and rabbits.
From what Chuck Casey, the wildlife officer i talked to, said there is alot of freedom. Freedom meaning like you dont have an office or anything. You just ride around in a truck and make sure people are following the rules of stftey.
Wildlife officers are like cops, but they deal with wildlife. For example, people baiting a field with food that animal that they are hunting likes to attract them. I think a wildlife officer would be a great job for me. I love to be outdoors and hunt. Thats why I think I should be a wildlife officerl.
UCA 2009
This summer, the 2009-2010 Dyer Junior High cheer squad went to UTM for the annual UCA cheer camp. It’s run by the UCA, also known as the Universal Cheerleaders Association, staff. We stayed in the dorms on campus. It was stellar.
We learned lots of cheers and sidelines while we were there. After a while, it got easier. They got fast. You’ve gotta stay alert and awake.
We also learned a bunch of dances. The main one we focus on is the Extreme Routine. It’s name doesn’t lie. it is extreme1 It contains five premade eight counts. After we learn those, we have to make up the last four eight counts. It is difficult as a aquad to ocmbine all ideas into thirty-six beats. In th end, we all turn out great. In the dances, you can add anything, You can add tumbling, jumps, kicks, and stunts.
Stunts. Oh, I love stunts. Lifting Anna Lyse is so much fun. Frickin’ fun! I love it. It’s my favorite thing about cheer.
Cheer camp is tough, but totally worth it. Maybe you sould try it. Oh, and for the record, IT IS A SPORT!!!

Comment byShould school start at 8:00 a.m.? I don’t think so. I hate having to wake up at 6:30 a.m. every morning and getting ready in a rush. Seven hours of school is way too long.
Comment bySchool should start at 9:00 or 9:30 a.m. Then we would have a maximum of six hours of school. But that is still too long, in my opinion.I mean, six hours? That’s a long time. It’s still better than the current seven hours.
What would make it even better is if school ended at 1:00 or 1:30 p.m. Only four to four and a half hours of school would be incredibly awesome. We would only have four classes in one day. Who wouldn’t love that? I sure would. So would everyone I know.
School should definately not start at 8:00 a.m. It should start at 9:00 and end at 1:00 p.m. It would give everyone so much more time for extracirriculars and the life they have outside of school. It would be so much better.
Career Fair
On September the September 16th Dyer,Rutherford,Milan,Yorville,Springhill, and Medina Junior High went to the career fair. The career fair was held at GC.
Comment byWe left at about ten thirty from the school and arrived at about ten forty.By the time we got there Milan was getting ready to get on their bus.
We waited in the bleachers for about five minutes until we got to walk arounf.Once we finally got down to the floor, I saw atleast twenty careers available to look at.There was a teacher, cosmetologists,Vet,GEMC, and a graphic designer to name just a few. I was only interested in the teacher and the cosmetologists.
When I spotted the teachers booth I walked over to it and saw a huge line.As I made my way through line I grabbed a brochure. When I got to the beginning of the line, I asked Mrs. Ginny Tyler about five questions. She explained every single one of them and gave me some candy.
I walked around the cosmetologists and the GEMC booth just to take up some time until I finally sat down.Soon after I sat down,we all had to load on the bus.We were all hyper and loud when we saw that it was raining.Lynsey,Cody Reynolds, and I ran and hopped in a bus, not knowing that it was not even ours.
Once everyone got seated,we left.We arrived at the school a few minutes later and started to get out of the bus.
If you’ve never been to a career fair, you’re missing out on a lot.
The Swine Flu
Comment byThe swine flu is the worst kind of sickness I have ever had.I had it for one whole week. That week was one of the worst weeks of my life.
I laid in bed the first day, and I thought that I was going to have it easy for a week.I was totally wrong. As soon as my temperature got up to 104,I thoght that I was going to die.
I pretty much laid in bed for four days straight just watching T.V. and feeling horrible. If I had to choose between going to school everyday for the rest of my life and having the swine flu everyday,I would choose going to school.
Let me tell you,if you have not had the swine flu yet, then try not to get it.
Fishing
September 12,Saturday,D,Uncle Lovell,Reggie, and I went fishing.
Comment byThat morning I had to wake-up at 4:20 a.m. just to go fishing. On the way tho the lake, i went to sleep. When we got there, I woke up and I thought this lake is pretty long.
When we started fishing, we didn’t catch anything for thirty minutes. Next, Raggie csught one medium-sized fish. Twenty minutes later, we turned the motor on to leave the spot we were in. While the motor was on, fish started jumping out of the water, literally. One small fish jumped in the boat, and D threw it in the cooler.
Fifty minutes later, we left another spot we were in. CABOOSH!!! Another fish jumped in, but this was different from the first one. It was humongous. It was two ties bigger than Mrs. Hudson’s striped lamp. D protected me because it jumped on my feet. D had to literally throw it in the lake.
Thirty minutes after that incident, we were driving home.I had a lot a of fun
Clothing
Comment byThis year on the first day of school, I wanted to wear a layered tank top. It was an Abercrombie navy blue and white striped shirt with a white tank under it. I thought it was cute. Mom apparently thought it showed to much skin and made me change.
I think we should be able to wear jeans with holes in them. It is really hard to find jeans without holes.
I think we should be able to wear short shorts. They can’t belike really short, but they can be above your knees. So as you can see,I don’t like or dress code.
I wish…
Have you ever been talking to someone and all of the sudden they just stop talking? Well, I know I have. I wish i could just finish hearing what they are saying.
Comment byReading minds seems so much easier, if you want to know something really bad. People always look at you weird, and you know they are thinking about something.Usually, the person won’t tell you when you day “what?” to them for looking at you weird.
Sometimes, you just don’t want to go up tp people and ask them why are they looking at you. So, reading others’ minds seem so fun and useful in so many ways.
I just wish that I could read minds. I know it would make my life so much easier.
Softball
What is your favorite sport?
Softball is my favorite sport. I like to hit the ball and run bases. I also love to make outs. I play third bases for the softball team.
I don’t like to lose, but we have our ups and downs. When we lose it brings us down, but all we do is play better the next game.
Softball is awesome, I love it!

Comment byI sit and sit,
waiting for a bell,
The Black tables gross

The chair squeaks

The test fills me with

While my mind sits in a daze.
With a little annoying bug in

I turn my head.
The bell rings

Comment byMy first day wasn’t too bad,but I like getting Reading and English done.No offense!I like my classes. The hallways are still a little crowded, but that will be okay.It has been fun in your class. You keep my attention, you joke around, but then you can get serious and you mean buisness.I am liking school so far.
The Light Earthquake
Comment byAt twilight,as the day was fading into
darkness,I was sleeping comfortably in my soft, warm
bed,layered with my pink comforter.
Suddenly,my big bed started to shake.
I woke my mom,and told her that my bed was shaking a little bit.”You must be dreaming, because
I don`t feel anything”,she said in her tired voice.”Go back to bed,Beth”,she said.
The next morning,I woke up,and turned on the channel seven news.It said that there was a earthquake last night. My mom had just gotten up.
“There was an earthquake last night,”I told my mom.
“No wonder you were feeling something shaking,”Mom said.Everyone was talking about it at school, including Mrs.Ladd and our science teacher,Ms.Bonds.

Grass!Oh,Grass, how beautiful you are. How you make the beautiful swaying sound. Oh the horrible smell you make when you get cut. But, Grass, you are so pretty.
Comment byFirst Day of School
The first day I was very nervous with all the crowded hallways and the loud noises I was glad to be back and meet all my new teachers Now I’m used to it all.

He goes He comes back pacing waiting for Momma to come home. Flopping his ears Wagging his tail. Barkins at vehichles going down the road. Laying down he sighs thinking, “Will she ever come home?” Now up sitting on the rug waiting paiently. But not for long now he’s laying down. Looking at me with the sweetest eyes crying. Career Fair
Comment byHave you ever been to career fair?
I have.Yesterday,September 16,2009,eighth graders went to career fair at Gibson County High School.
We got to walk around to lots of diferent jobs.We also got alot of free things like candy and pens.We got to dance.Other than that,it was boring.
When I grow up I want to be a techer, maybe.I’m not sure yet.My second choice would be a designer so I can design different things.
Career fair was fun.Just wait until you get to eighth grade in a few years and got to the career fair.
Eight Grade
Comment byEight grade is going great. It is mostly the same as seventh grade. There are just some things that are not.
My locker is in the back hallway this year. I like it because we get to go to the computer lab two times this year. It is easy to get our stuff.
Sports are going great. We are only doing softball right now. Our softball record is 11 to 5. We are doing well this year. Basketball is coming up. I cant wait. I like both sports, but I am just in the mood for basketball.
This year in lunch we have to eat with the seventhgrade. I thought we were going tohave it by ourself, but it’s okayy. Eight grade is going great.
She loves me
Comment byI love my mom.
Brown hair blue eyes.
She is very funny, and she makes
me laugh alot.She likes the
Tennessee Vols and Lady Vols.
She watches them whenever she can.
She loves me very much. She takes
care of me.I love her so much.
My mom is awsome!!!
My School Life
Comment byI have been an eighth grader for two weeks, and it’s going well.I am ready to see what is to come in the future.
The tests are not hard yet,I hope they don’t get too hard.It still seems like I am in seventh grade.
I am happy and sad at the same time.Happy because we are the biggest class.Sad because this is my last year.I will miss the teachers and everybody here.It is so much fun here at Dyer.I know it will be fun out at Gibson County High School.I am just not ready to go yet. Then again I kind of am ready to go.
I am ready to play some sports out there that we don’t have here.I would like to play volleyball or tennis.
This is my school life so far this year.
A Fly On My Popcorn
One day I went to the park to see my brother,JaVon,play baseball.
Comment byWhile they were playing baseball,my dad stood right by the dugout. My mom,TyNia,and I just sat on the benches like everyone else.
Then the game started getting boring,so I walked in circles around the park. That’s when my grandfather came. When he found me,he walked up to me and gave me a dollar for popcorn and a drink.
He did the same for TyNia also.
After he gave us the money,we got popcorn and a soda. Then we sat downand ate it.While I was eating the popcorn,a fly flew over to me.The fly flew on my popcorn, without noticing it,and I put it in my mouth.I tasted the fly,and it was disgusting.I spit it out,and in my hand was a fly’s wing. Then I drank my soda as fast as possible to get the taste out of my mouth.I got the taste out of my mouth, but I was mad for a long time.
I remember when I went dove hunting at Logan,my cousin’s house. It was a Sunday afternoon, Ronny, my uncle, called us and asked if we wanted to come over to dove hunt.
Comment byWhen we got to the field, we parked and walked for ever. When we got to the hunting spot, we loaded our shotguns. The first dove we saw, me shot at but missed. The day had passed by and we didn’t see any more doves. So we packed up and went home.
Snow
Footprints pressed against the snow,
a marking left behind.
Like a temporary fossil
left by an animal.
Most people walk by,
not knowing what was left
but not me
I look closely.
What animal could leave
a mark such as this
left behind in the
blank white snow?
A human such
as everyone around.

Comment byUCA 2009
July 10-13, Dyer Junior High cheerleaders went to UCA cheercamp in Martin. We all had a great time and got to learn a lot of new stuff.
Comment byA prep, cradle, elevator, and the Swedish falls are just some of the stunts we learned at camp. At first, we didn’t have any stunt groups for stunting, but the UCA people helped us getting into groups and learn how to do stunts.
We also learned some new dances. We got to learn the extreme routine, hip-hop dance, and a hero’s dance. From all of those that we learned, we really learned the extreme routine the best. I was surprised how good we had it.
Of course since we went to cheer camp, we got to learn some new cheers. It’s very helpful that we learn new cheers, so we will have some new ones each each year and not have the same old ones.
Dyer Cheer suad accomplished so much stuff over camp this summer. Cheer camp was so fun and helped us out so much! I am glad we went to UCA cheer camp this summer.
Enrichment
Comment byEnrichment is different from last year.We have to go to the computer lab during fifth period instead of in the library in seventh period.
This year enrichment is not as fun as last year was.Mrs Becky used to let us go outside, but this year we can’t.
We have Mrs.Mandi is fun but just not as fun as Mrs.Becky was last year.
During enrichment,we can only get on educational websites.Mrs.Tracy tells Mrs.Pam what to let us get on.
Mrs.Pam Grady watches our class until Ms.Mandi gets there.Mrs.Mandi has lunch duty until 12:02pm.Then,she comes back over here.
Enrichment is not fun anymore.
Life Savers
Oh Oakleys,
how I love you.
You are so awesome.
You keep the sunshine away
from my eyes.
Guess what?
Comment byMy favorite colors
are pink and black,
just like you.
You are my life saver.
When I play softball,
you’re like my milk
with my cookies.
I will love you forever.
Oh oakleys,
YOU ROCK MY WORLD!
“Checkmarks”
Comment byI think checkmarks are stupid. I do not get a lot of them, but I still think they are unfair.
If a kid is acting up, just send them to the office. It will get them out of your class so you can teach. If you give them a checkmark and they get checkmarks a lot, then they will keep doing what they were doing.
For example, if Drew was blowing bubbles with his gum and a teacher gives him a checkmark, I think he’ll keep on doing it. Checkmarks are stupid.
My New Room
Comment bySunday, August 30, I switched rooms with my little sister, Lilly. My new room is smaller than the one I had before, but it’s really awesome and has a lot of space. Weird, I know.
So let’s start with the bed. Daddy built something over the stairs, ya know, with wood and tools and stuff. He put my bed on that thingy over the stairs. It’s awesome, and it takes up no floor space. Sweet! Anyway, I have some crates (man those things are so useful) that I use to get one the bed because it’s like four feet or so off the ground. My sisters use the crates, I just jump because it’s not that hard and I don’t want to waste my time with crates. But that’s just me.
Now my counter. I have a counter that goes around the room on two sides. I can put like everything I have on that, besides the dresser and bed and whatever else that’s big.
Moving on to my favorite part of my room………. MY WALK-IN CLOSET!!! Man, I love that thing. I put my desk and laptop in there, and that’s where I go when I want some peace and quiet. That’s not why it’s my favorite part of my room, though. I have my hair and make-up stuff in there, too. Clothes, too, but it’s a closet, duh. When I wake up every morning I go in there and do hair and make-up. Adding all that together, hair, make-up, clothes, and private place, that’s why it’s my favorite part of my room. Wait, I forgot something. I have a really big mirror on the wall in my closet. Gosh, my closet is so awesome.
I love everything about my room. It’s the bomb.
Hang-gliding
Comment byI wish I could hang-glide. It lookd like a very fun and thrilling thing to do. Since I live for thrill, this sounds perfect for me. Rollercoasters are an example, and they are my most favorite thing in the world.
I read a book about hang-gliding about two weeks ago. It had the history and makings of the first hang-gliders. Hang-gliding is a national sport, and many people participate in these competitions.
There are different types of hang-gliding that you can do. For example, mountain-gliding and cross-country hang-gliding. You have to have special equipment for a mountain-glide, though. The air up there is so thin, you have to bring air tanks, and it’s cold so you have to be in a sleeping bag or have a lot of extra clothes on. I bet it’s pretty up there, though.
I told Daddy that I really want to go hang-gliding. He and I love the same kind of stuff; thrilling things. He said that we difinitly need to go do that. Yes!!! Daddy said we can go. Beofre I asked him that, I lokked for a place close to Tennessee where you can hang-glide.
I found a place in somewhere, Georgia where you can hang-glide. It’s called Lookout Mountain. Daddy gives me pretty much anything, and this is hang-gliding so heck yeah!!!
This is so awesome, and I am do excited. Kathryn wants to go with me, but her parents would never in a million years let her go hang-gliding. They wouldn’t even let her go even if they were there with us. I really do wish she could go, though, because who would want to have this experience without their best friend since kindergarden. Uh, not me.
Man. this is going to be so much fun. Georgia, here we come!!!!:)
Turnip Greens
Comment byI remembered when my mom and I
went to my great grand mother`s house to visit.
My great grand mother gave my mom some turnip greens, because she liked them.
As soon as we got home,my mom fixed them for
herself.
I asked my mom and said,”Mom,can I have some?”
she said,”Yeah”.
I took a bite,and spit it out.
“That`s the grossest thing I`ve ever tasted!”
I said.
music
Comment byWhat is music? music is a verbal expression of the mind,a way of expressing yourself. On a day that I’m feeling good I can slide in my earphones in and rock out to “The Pretender” by the Foo Fighters.
Although it is my favourite rock isn’t the only genre. Some examples are as fallows: rock, pop, grunge, metal, and hip-hop. Here are some of my favourite songs and theirgenres, “Godspeed”, alternative, “Pleateau”, grunge “Black Hole Sun”, psycadelic grunge and “Cyanide Sweet Tooth Suicide” is rock.
Bands are important to music, I mean not just piccolo and tuba, I’m talkin’ about bass, giutars, drums and lead singers.
I like many different bands this includes, Foo Fighters, Anderlin, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Shinedown, Crossfade, and System of a Down. There are even more bands than that over 3,000+ around the world.
Nowadays music can be accessed form everywhere. From Apple iPods to Zune mp3s-litterally A-Z! I have an iPod shuffle. Lauren has a Zune, and bethany has a jaked up one I think it’s a RCA Pearl.
Whatever your musical passion is, let it show proudly.Use your personality through music.
Lakeview
Almost two years ago,I was in the worst situation.
Comment byMarylee and I went to a huge arts and crafts show at Reelfoot Lake.It was like three miles long.We bought many things, and we walked for hours and hours. We got very bored after a while.
We were ready to leave so we rode in the back of my dad’s truck. We went to her grandads’ house to see him and her aunt Ethel.
After that,we finally left to go eat.We went to a catfish resturant called Lakeview. We had to wait a while to get seated. The service was not the best so we had to wait even longer.I wasn’t happy. We finally got our food.I ordered chicken and french fries. The chicken tasted like rubber. It was gross. The french fries were hard as rocks.I could have chipped a tooth.I was forced to eat it.It was awful.
Then I wanted some ice cream. This was a mistake.I should have never done it.I ordered my ice cream. They finally brought it to me.I ate my ice cream, and then I hear Marylee yell my name.
“Bailey!”she said.
“What?” I asked.
“There is a long black hair in your ice cream!” Marylee said.
“Ew!” I yelled
We had had enough. We payed and left. That was an awful, terrible day.
One night aftermy brother’s basball game we went to the mexican restraunt.
Comment byThe whoe team went, so it was crowded
We got chips and salsa, then we ordered.
I got cicken nachos. I ordered grilled chicken, but when they brought it out it was shredded.
I was like,”Okay,” that was before i tried it. When I put that nasty chip in my mouth, I gagged
I looked at my mom, and told her to try them.
She tasted it and said it was good.
I ate it anyway. Then when I got home, I threw up.
My Birthday
I remember waking up at 6:30a.m
on september 16th,2009.
It was a dark and rainy day,but I didn`t care.
I got up,got my clothes, and put them in the dryer.I went to the bathroom and put on my makeup.
It took like five minutes.
I walked into the living room.My parents started singing the Happy Birthday song.I sat down.My dad said,”Your breakfast is on the table and your drink is in the fridge.”I got up and got my drink and my food and sat down.
While i sat there quitly eating,my dad turns up the t.v.I got bored watching it so I walked to the dryer to get my clothes.
I put them on,put my hair up,put on my socks,my shoes, and I sat down.My mom handed me a sack.I opened it.It was a sliding protecter for my leg I tried it on and it was way to big.It was the best birthday ever.

“Oh my gosh!I was talking first!”
“Oh well sorry.”
It makes me so freakin’ mad when I’m talking and someone just talks over me.I swear,I just, like, want to hit them. One thing it’s rude, rude, rude, and when someone does it to me,I stop. Then the person that I’m talking to tells the person that intteruppted me,”Dude, she was talking,”and they’ll be like,”I’m sorry.”So I just say,”oh if it’s that important go ahead and talk.Go on.It’s SO important. You better tell them,”and I turn my head.
It makes me feel like they don’t even care that I’m there,so why talk at all?I bet it’s happened to everyone before.I CANNOT STAND IT!If someone does it to you, after about the fifth time, turn the tables, and do it to them.See how they like it.
It’s rude, selfish, and not very respectful,so STOP IT.Wait until whoever is speaking finishes, and then you can talk
Way Out West
This summer, we went out a vacation out west. It was just the four of us, and we left about five o’clock one day.
Comment byWe went up to Dyersburg and down through Arkansas. We knew there was a storm coming, but we left anyway. We were almost to Memphis- about in Marion, Arknasas-, and it started raining really hard. Mama wanted to check the weather, so she turned on the radio and pulled up the radar on Daddy’s Blackberry.
Finally, it pulled up, and it was a severe thunderstorm warning. Mama continued to refresh it.
“What’s it say now?” Daddy asked.
“I don’t know,” Mama said.”Oh, now it says… uh, a tornado warning!”
“What?! Okay, uh, let me exit.” We exited the interstate and turned onto a side road.
“Oh my gosh, is that a storm chaser?” Mama asked. “It is!” We got back on the interstate after a lot of discussion. Eventually the sky cleared.
“What a way to start a vacation!” Mama said.
Homework
Comment byI don’t like homework. If teachers want us to do work, they should give us time in class.
Homework wastes time at home that we’er supposed to have to ourselves. We are supposed to learn and work at school and study study at home-not work at school and work at home
It doesn’t teach students anything. Most students don’t even do their homework.
That’s why i don’t like homework.

I remember a few months ago, I went to Joe’s birthday party. He told us to bring our four-wheelers, so I begged my parents until they let me take it. My dad kept insisting that something would happen to it, but I ignored him. When we pulled up, nobody was outside. We went in and found everyone who was invited (except me) huddled by the computer. I joined in, and my dad left. After about an hour, Joe suggested we go outside and ride four-wheelers. We all agreed and ran outside.
I got on mine and rode for about thirty minutes, then I let Joe and Sam ride it because Jacob and Chase were in a treehouse throwing dirt clods. I started throwing back, but after about five minutes I saw Grant running as fast as he could to his house. I wondered what was happening, and started worrying when I saw smoke rising up from behind a line of trees. Chase and Jacob practically jumped down from the treehouse and ran with me towards the smoke.
What I saw when I got there shocked me. My four-wheeler was on fire! Joe and Sam were trying to put it out, but there wasn’t anything to use. They gave up shortly after I got there. Grant’s dad pulled up in Mitchell’s Jeep and got out. He had already called 911, he said, and they’d be here shortly. I asked if I could call my dad, and Grant’s dad gave me his phone. I could hardly dial the numbers because my hands were shaking so bad. He answered and I told him the situation. He said he’d be there really quick and hung up. Some firefighters got there before him and started hosing down the now pretty-big fire. My dad got there right after they put it out. “I told you so,” is all he said.

Funeral
Yesterday,September8,2009 I had to go to my uncle’s funeral.I didn’t get to go to school,so today I had to come to school.I didn’t want to come to school today though because when I got here Ms.Cheri had a test in her class.
When I got in Ms.Cheri’s class I told her I was abcent,so I didn’t know what the test was about.
She said,”Ok.”
Then we started to take the test when Chance said that he was abcent too. After that Ms.Cheri said,
“Who ever was abcent go to the hall.”
Chance and I went to the hall.We sat out there for thirty to fourty-five minutes, and we didn’t know what was going on.Then after awhile we got got tired of sittiing,so we went to go ask Ms.Cheri if we could come in.
Comment byShe said,”Yes you can come in.”
We had got mad at her,but she said that she was sorry that she forgot about us being out in the hall.
Corn Maze
I remember Saturday,September26,2009 I went to a corn maze with my church. When we got there we had to wait on some of the people, and after that we had to go get tickets. It took alot of time to get the tickets because they couldn’t get the right number of people when they counted.
We finally got our tickets, and then got into groups. Then we went to the pig races. We got to vote for the pig that we wanted to win,and if it did it got a oreo. After the pig races we went to the corn maze.
When we got in the maze we all got lost,so Iwent to find my dad,”Ivy.”I finally found him and then started going through the maze with him. When we were going through it we meet Ms.Sally, and she was lost too.We started talking to her,and she had got lost from the group she was in.She came with us and then we saw a person how worked there. She told us to go to the bridge,so we did.Ms.Sally didn’t go because she wanted to get out. When we got to the bridge they showed us how to get out.
We all got finished with the maze, but four or five of us.Thirty to fourty minutes after us they showed up.Then we all went to go play for a hour, after we got done playing we went on a hay ride two times. After the ride we got to play for thirty more minutes, and when we got done playing once again. We finally got to go home.

Sunday, September 27, 2009, I went to the park with the church. Before I went I hgad to go home and change because I didn’t know I was going. After I got dressed I started going to McDonald’s in Union City. We went to the one in Union City because the park was in Union City. We ate and then went to the park.
When we got to the park we couldn’t play at first because Ms. Sally had to tell us some stuff. We stayed at the park for three to four hours. We got to play and have fun after Ms. Sally told us all the rules. After we played we had to go that way everybody could go home and get ready for church that night.
We all went home or to the church. The people who went to church had to pick up their kids. They had to pick up their kids because some kids rode the bus back to the church.
Comment byStore
One day I had to go to softball practice after school, and we had to stay there till five o’clock. We all got to bat and then field. We all had fun, but it was hot.
After softball practice, we went to the store to get some stuff. The foodrite, my mom sent into I had never went into before, so I didn’t know where the stuff was. I got nervous.
I went into the store looking for rice, rolls and potatoes. I went down the aisles looking at the signs for the stuff. I had to ask a man where everything else was and he showed me. Finally I checked out and went home.
Comment byGot to Go Back
This summer my family and I went to Indiana for our vacation. We stayed at a hotel called the Jasper Inn. The Jasper Inn had everything I wanted. They had mini golf, a swimming pool (indoor), a restaurant in the hotel, and my favorite thing, an arcade with pool tables. My brother, Alex, and I love pool, so we played a lot. The cool part is we played for three hours straight.
The second day we were there, we went to Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. My brother, Mitchell, and I rode the Voyage. The Voyageis the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Indiana. It was very fun.

Comment byThe eighth graders have something to dread every Tuesday and Thursday in fourth period;Riverdeep.
No one likes to do it,because they give us the same thing every year.We dont learn anything, because it’s fourth grade stuff. If they’re gonna try to up our TCAP scores then they need to give us higher level stuff.
Personally,I think the school is wasting their money.
Look a bird, a plane, it’s Sarah Beth! If you were able to do anything in the world what would it be? Would you want to be able to sing, dance, have a new car? How about being able to fly? Now that would be cool.
Comment byAh yes, my dream is to fly with birdies high in the sky. They give me that look of “I wish I looked like her, fly like her.”
Over the sea and threw the trees, I would fly far.
I wish I was a bird, a bird I would like to be.
Grandmom, We Will Miss You
Comment bySeptember 19, 2009, was supposed to be a day of fun. I was going to go to a softball camp at Union University. Later that night, I was going to Macie Cole’s birthday party.
It was should have trigered me when my mom was crying at Chick Fa’la. My grandmother had been sick for a while, and I’ve gotten used to the crying.
My grandmom had been fighting cancer for about four years, but the past few months she had gotten worse.
We went to the doctor, and she was going to start radiation. We thought she’d get better. The weeks passed, and she only got worse.
She began not to eat because nothing tasted good to her .We took her to the hospital and they gave her some medicane, and it worked for a while.
Then, it started to stop working. We were all so hurt on September 19.2009, my gradmom took her last breath and her first breath wit God.
Everyone saying sorry was hard, but I greatly appreciated it. We watched her die, and saw her in so much pain. It hurt seeing her lying there. She couldn’t say a word.
The funeral came fast, too fast. Seeing her lie there in the open casket, she finally looked like my grandmom. I missed seeing that.
We said our goodbye. Seeing her brought chills and memories to my body.
She was a loving person, and she never said anything bad about anyone.
I gave her a kiss and walked out the door. They brought her out, and we all wnt to the cemetery. The cemetery was just across the street from her house.
We cried and talked about how she wasn’t hurting anymore.
My grand dad and her were a perfect couple. They made Romeo and Juilet look bad.
Christmas will be hard. We always went to their house.
I’ll miss her so much loosing her was like loosing the National Championship by one! It was heartbreaking.
We love and miss you!

Do you like farming?Well it is my favorite thing to do.I love to ride tractors and put crops in and take crops out.I like to drive equiptment and always being out on a farm.
Comment byFarmers are never promised very good money, because it is always a guessing game. All farmers want the market to be very high on the crop they are growing.
Farming takes a lot of work ,but it pays off in the long run.

Flu
Comment byOn September 13,2009 I went to the E.R. I found out I had the flu. I was really upset. The doctor said I had to wait a week before I went back to school.OMG!
I got home and later that night I went to bed, I felt horrible. It felt like a bull had kicked me in the lower part of my stomach. On top of that,I had fever.
It was the worst week ever!Let me just tell you.The flu is the worst! Not only for you,but for school too.If you miss a week of school, like I did with the flu,you will be pounded with homework and make-up work.I am still working on both.
All I did that week was lay on the couch, did make-up work, and just got to be lazy.I was ready to come back,so I didn’t have that much make-up work.
When I finally came back,I still had make-up work, tests, projects, everything you can think of,I am still working on all of that trying to get caught up.
I will eventually get caught up,I hope.Maybe it won’t be much longer. So a little advice, keep your hands washed,Germ-X,stay away from other sick people.Just don’t get the flu. It is too much make-up work.
